Satin and Silk beats the older horses at Kembla Grange

Belinda Bateman’s homebred filly Satin and Silk showed good speed and determination to win against the older horses at Kembla Grange on Saturday. She began quickly from the outside barrier and settled beautifully just behind the leader before showing a good kick inside the last 100m to gain victory after running second at her last two starts.

Satin and Silk is by I Am Invincible and is the fourth foal and fourth winner from Satin Shoes who was purchased by JHB and De Burgh Equine from the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for the Bateman family. Satin Shoes was a terrific racehorse wining the Group 2 Silver Slipper and Listed Widden stakes at 2 and she has proven to be just as successful a broodmare with her first foal Satin Slipper by Pierro wining the Listed Gimcrack Stakes on debut and now the dam of the exciting unbeaten colt I Am Unstoppable.

It was a very successful day at Kembla Grange for the Bateman family brand with Kadall (Capitalist x Twirl) and Oakfield Mahogony (Capitalist x Impetuous) both bred and sold by Belinda Bateman also winning their respective races.

Congratulations to all connections and big thanks to trainers Peter and Paul Snowden who have prepared Satin and Silk beautifully and to jockey Mitchell Bell for a great ride.
