Custodian too good at Kensington

Returning as a gelding this preparation, Custodian was unlucky on his return in Saturday company, and was quick to make amends today at Kensington.

Rated beautifully by Brett Prebble on the speed, Custodian pounced at the top of the straight and was always doing enough to hold off his rivals, winning quite softly on the line and going away again after the post in the manner of a horse who can go right through his grades.

Custodian was Listed placed in the Gothic Stakes at Flemington earlier in his career and is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Profondo, both being out of the very fast mare Honesty Prevails. He was purchased from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Thanks to trainers Peter and Paul Snowden, jockey Brett Prebble and congratulations to owners Belinda Bateman, Fergus Doyle, Rob Love, Phil & Glenda Mehrten, Danny & Pauline Saab, John & Frances Ingham, Gary Diamond and Arrowfield Stud.
